Yup. Late. So let's not delay...

ITEM! With some more behind-the-scenes material emerging for THOR - The Dark World - and here's even more - next pre-Christmas is going to be pretty awesome!

ITEM! Talking about Christmas - and this Christmas this time - I think I can confidently say that this year's Doctor Who Special will kick the ass of last year's not entirely stellar offering. It actually looks like FUN.

ITEM! This time next week, CSI Miami will be history. Unfortunately, this final season really hasn't shone as you might have thought it would.

ITEM! And Star Trek Online still has me as an active player, thanks to a great fleet. I will not be such an asshole again.

Yeah, I missed another day, but to be honest, you weren't missing very much. The "main event" was the "race" to complete the "Borg Assimilated" equipment set for my other Star Trek Online characters before one set of four on-ship devices becomes two sets of three when Season 7 kicks in, and that's been continuing today - there's no guarantee I'll be able to complete the Borg set for both remaining characters, but my Klingon Defence Force representative may be close enough for it to work out...

When not "grinding" episodes in space, I've also been enjoying some downloaded content for Skyrim, in the form of "Hearthfire"; the new add-on house-building system. It's no way as in-depth and customisable as the set-up in Ultima Online, but you do have to build each part of your dwelling literally from the ground up.

In the meantime... I'm 0 for 2 on attempts to watch this week's CSI Miami, as the show's conclusion approaches. Damn.

And finally... I'm considering starting to post the latest piece of the WORLDS COLLIDE run-in starting Monday. That'll give me about a week... mark... before Chapter 4, which should be the conclusion, will be due in. Can I possibly make the deadline...?

MISSING: One Saturday, slightly used, answers to the name of "Oi, YOU! Where the f**k did you go to?" I mean, it's already 9pm, heading into CSI - New York territory, and I've achieved nothing, apart from getting the latest comic order away, and digging up a bunch of treasure maps in Ultima Online...

...oh, right, that explains a lot.

Had I known in advance, I'd probably be in Liverpool for the Sea Odyssey street-show. Just one day after hearing about Machines de l'Ile, this highlight of the Titanic 100th anniversary events comes along. What makes it event more annoying is that such events have happened before, in the last few years - where is the damned publicity????

Sometimes, ya gotta have Cosmic sodding Awareness.

In the meantime, a warning - get ready for...

F[!q]b@s

- the future is f[!q]ed up.

ITEM! I'm going with that epilogue I mentioned yesterday for ...Mane-of-Night: Dancers of Freeport, as a way of expanding what happens outside of our heroine's experience. I don't have my "master blueprint" for the whole run-up to *SPOILER?* WORLDS COLLIDE *END_SPOILER?* yet - but I can't really blame any of that on my usual weekend hassle, 'cause there honestly wasn't that much. Just a few small jobs that needed dealt with, and were - I've just not fully readjusted to the concept of an unbuggered-up weekend yet.

ITEM! Have I just found the perfect item for one of my "props" for my Mission 101 Task 88
88 - Create usable stage/screen/cosplay props of three pieces of costume or equipment from my own projects
. The idea is to make a Mane-of-Night energy-whip bracelet THAT LIGHTS UP, but I have utterly failed to find a light source that can be easily switched on and off, ideally through leather, and I may just have found what I need...

ITEM! Oh, and during the same shopping "sprint", I ordered some more flash drives - I already have far more than I could possibly need, but dammit they keep getting smaller, and therefore more desireable...

ITEM! Chalk up another for Mission 101 Task 28 - add Paper Moon (1973) to the "classic movie a month" list!

ITEM! Get this - the book of War Horse (which I'm currently reading and enjoying) has sold more copies in the UK in the last two weeks than it had WORLDWIDE since it was published 25 YEARS AGO. Yay!

ITEM! Time to kick back before NEW CSI New York!

Funny day, this one - work was so damned cold that I had to come home early for the second day in a row, then the usual Tuesday break for CSI Miami became a two-and-a-half hour stint to accommodate the premiere of Alphas - "CSI meets Heroes", you could call it. Not bad...

I've been visiting the local craft shop every day lately, picking up bits and pieces whenever I see them, and those components, combined with a couple of purchases at a local fashion outlet, have enabled me to complete some "sub-assemblies" for my Mission 101 Task 91 "personal goddess". I was hoping to get more on Saturday, during an out-of-town excursion, but the weather looks like it'll be sh8, and that could get cancelled.

The month is getting eaten up before my eyes. I may struggle to complete any Tasks in October at this rate... and the bloody cold doesn't help any. Please, let's not have another frozen-solid winter.

We lost our power earlier (until past the start time for CSI Miami), and that cost me an Ultima Online session. As a result, we paid an unexpected, but warmly received visit to my nephew, in perhaps the only house in the street with power.

Any catch-up tomorrow's gonna have to take a back seat to my going to see Apollo 18 - pity that Troll Hunter seems to be "MIA", probably until DVD release. Next up is most likely the prequel to The Thing, which will really have to go some to beat the '80s genre-defining version - is CGI really going to be enough? It won't be long 'til we find out.

So, that's the evening pretty much knackered, then. Let's try this again tomorrow.

"The worst summer since 1993", says the news. Why'd it take you so long to work that out???? For cryin' out loud, just up the coast, they got three times the month's average rainfall in eleven (11) days. I'm regretting being so dismissive of the heat in my office on those rare things this summer, warm days - especially after Sunday night.

Hopefully I'll get my office windows sorted before the weather really turns for the worst (grrrr, another "little" job needing done). Please, let's not have another winter like 2010...

Meanwhile... A busy evening approaches - Ultima Online, CSI Miami, and a bookbinding project that needs a bit of a "push". Busy busy busy!

I knew it was going to be a not entirely satisfactory day the moment I found the Ice Slope Of Impending Death between me and work this morning. I survived unscathed, and work was in general non-annoying, with a definite high-point being a writing break-through - an important element has made it through the creative haze at last! The end of The Secret Adventures of Mane-of-Night - Flight 102 Is Overdue is on the horizon.

I found a route home that had next to no risk of a slippy incident, and yes, it did take a while longer, but it was worth it to bypass "Death Canyon". My evening didn't start quite as I'd hoped, but there was brand spanking new CSI to look forward to, and that revealed something that many people have known for quite some time...

...B!3b3r The "Boy Wonder" is EVIL. EEEEEEVIIIIIIL.

Development News - MoN-205 Flight 102 Is Overdue: I love it when a plan comes together.

A little bit of thought, a couple of pages of additional material at the start of Chapter 8, and a big chunk of essential story slots into place. The path is now clear (if a little tortuous) to getting Mane-of-Night into the story...

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have some Ultima Online stuff to deal with, CSI Miami - and Patent Saturday shopping!

Hoping Maternal Unit isn't going to have any more hassle heading her way. Today seems to have been the perfect day to make public Mission 101 Task 14
14 - Take Mum to the University Christmas performance of Handel's Messiah at least once
- hope she gets the chance to actually enjoy it.

Tomorrow's big highlight? Hopefully securing a ticket for Rush in May!
patentdragon: (Default)
The Meeting... A "sorry you feel that way" rather than "we apologise for screwing up", but what needed to be said was said.

And The Rest Of The Day... A search for project materials was moderately successful, partly due to time constraints. Hollow plastic sphere for Blue/Red Lantern Power Battery project? Nope - couldn't even find a hamster ball. Large jewel for cosplay/prop Mane-of-Night energy-whip (Task 88)? No, but I did get some solid polystyrene eggs that could be used to form a mold for casting the necessary item - now, how about some resin casting supplies...?

Meanwhile... Mission Objective 79: Protest against CLAN continues, as local journalists continue to address the total lack of residents' involvement in the decision to allow 2010's CLAN Gathering. The latest news article featured someone who didn't want their name used, but I personally have no problems in that respect - especially when I'm going to go around the houses surrounding the site, asking for opinions and support. Given the way recent summers have gone, peace and quiet is about all we can hope for - and it's NOT for sale.

Task 55... Took some new photographs of my favourite piece of sculpture in the world - the dragon in Dundee. I even did a video clip this time - something will find its way online soon enough.

Coming Soon... The CSI Trilogy - all three "flavours" contributing to a single story-line. The story starts in Miami on Tuesday on Five - an episode from next season out of sequence...? Hope it doesn't blow anything about last season's cliffhanger.

My LiveJournal 4th anniversary is just around the corner? Crazy.

Mission 101 Update...
55 - Take more photographs

Today's appointment with The System was proceded by another Task 3 walk, and several great opportunities for taking photos - and look! I found how to get deviantART submissions in here via ready-made thumbnails. There are plenty more coming, including a bunch I really like. Could be looking at the start of another objective...
56 - Create a proper album of best photos

Meanwhile... Oooh, it's that Second Life episode of CSI New York again - pity my experience has never been so smooth and shiny-perfect. I have heard of a Green Lantern Corps operating in-game - now that could be fun, if only my laptop struggled to get a decent wireless connection upstairs, courtesy of my metal-frame desk... and that's why my Mission 101 list includes
87 - Get a decent computer desk that DOESN'T have a metal frame!

Development News... I'm going to have another busy day tomorrow, with the hospital meeting, and so writing time may not be easy to come by. Thursday is my best bet for intensive project work, I'm thinking - but if I can find the time for another interlude, that would work to at least bridge the gap. I'll be thinking about that the rest of the night - could be a chance to debut new "talent".

Development News...

TOUCHDOWN!

Yes, TDD-604 "Coming Home" IS DONE. It took a quite drastic change of approach to break the latest log-jam, but once the move was made, boy did things start moving - and I have CSI to thank for keeping things moving. Grissom and the Las Vegas team, I love you!

Posting is still set for tomorrow, at some time - probably just before I post my review of Part One of David Tennant's Doctor Who swan-song, "The End Of Time" - am I alone in getting the impression that maybe the lines between "good guy" and "bad guy" are going to be not just blurred, but completely twisted...?

And The Rest... Today was the approaching traditional Christmas Eve family dinner, and a very nice gathering it was, too. A bit too much to eat, perhaps - Bro, SiL and The Young Man seem to thrive on big portions - but unlike last year, presents were not opened before The Big Day, which should help tomorrow's somewhat subdued festivities along a bit.

Okay, I'm going to finish there for now, and ease into Christmas Day with Family Guy and a movie before seeking the embrace of beddy-byes.

Okay, that's the shopping done, and a big chunk of the wrapping, too. I would've waited 'til next week, but the opportunity was there, following the Work Slot meeting, and I grabbed it.

In The News... Yay - two NFL regular season games in the UK in 2010!

Yesterday's TV... The big highlight was the season finale for CSI Miami - and whilst it was exciting stuff, the whole thing rather fell flat near the end. There's a cliffhanger, and a serious one - ***SPOILER*** Where's Eric? Was it Calleigh's shot that wounded him, perhaps fatally...? ***END SPOILER*** - but it lacked some intensity. Too much hype beforehand? Maybe. Still well worth watching next year - and early in that same New Year, the return of CSI: New York, and the resolution of another cliffhanger. Who lives? Who dies? Who's responsible?

The year will be starting well, that's for certain!
