The time was fast approaching for another end-of-month Mission report, and I had little to show for it. Time for drastic action...

So I went to Edinburgh Zoo in search of Binturongs. At first, my quest hit a rocky patch...

On finding the right enclosure, there was not a single Binturong to be seen...

...but then I found a ramp leading up to an indoor viewing area...

Yup, they were asleep. Three facts about Binturongs:

1) They are also known as Malaysian bear-cats, although they are actually neither, being the largest representative of the civet family...

2) Yes, the male's musk DOES smell like buttered popcorn, and...

3) Binturongs have no sense of ceremony.

My quest was, even though, at an end. The weather earlier in the day had probably discouraged them from going outside, so they just caught some "ZZZZs". Can't blame them, although it turned out to be a very nice day.

Star of the show were most definitely the Amur Leopards...

Now they gave 110%.

And finally... All together now:
"Binturong,
Binturong,
Binturong binturong la la...
"

*SCORE*!
73 - See a binturong in the flesh
Details and pics tomorrow. I'm just too freakin' knackered to do it now...

A surprise parcel was waiting for me when I got back from work - the BluRay triple-pack of X-Men First Class! That provided me with the perfect break material whilst working on my craft project - after something of a false start, things advanced really well, although I have a bit more sewing to do than planned. I do have a day more than expected to complete the job - Monday kept ringing bells, but that's Hallowe'en, not November 1st.

I'll do a bit more sewing while BBC3 sticks on some American Dad, then an early-ish bed, before tomorrow's shopping-trip/binturong-spotting expedition...

ITEM! Saturday at The Zoo is ON. All I need now is to make sure the camera is charged (and in my bag), and that I know what bus to catch!

ITEM! The craft project associated with Mission 101 Task 52 - Complete some craft projects I've started CAN be completed on time, if I get enough free time in the early evening - I don't want to be hammering in eyelets at THIS hour. A BIG chunk of Saturday just became unuseable for crafting, so Sunday better be hassle-free.

Tonight, I did finish a paracord bracelet that's been lying unfinished for quite a while - could that count as the *SCORE* if I "drop the ball"...?

ITEM! Holy crap - was our Ultima Online Sunday Charybdis hunt the very first of its kind on our shard? Sounds like I played a significant part in history! Wheeeeee...

Shame about the loot, though.

Went to work. No-one was there. No heating. I came home.

No-one better count that as me taking a day off.

So, here I am, earlier than expected. I'm going to try to make the best of the day - and tomorrow. I'm not going in to work again 'til Monday. Could there perhaps be an open slot for an Edinburgh trip, and a Task completion...? *looks at the weather* Ugh. Windy.

Surprise surprise - now that I'm sitting in peace, with a netbook in my lap, it's time for "Her Indoors" to want to do something, like go out to the garden centre or somesuch. I REALLY hate this kind of crap. I never get the peace and quiet I want NEED. I'd book that expensive Patent Saturday break I have in mind, but oooooh nooooo, it's not frigging available in December is it?

(And now she's buggering about in the living room cupboard - just to annoy me? Well, it's working...)

Getting seriously irritated now...

This will probably be the last of the nice weather - these things are never meant to last, and around these parts, they never do. "Hot and sunny", says the forecast - yeah, hot and sunny for bloody South-East Englandshire, not the rest of us mere mortals...

I have no idea what is "planned" for this weekend, except for more hints that my overflow of stuff needs addressed. That it does, I freely admit - see Mission 101 Task 53
53 - Deal with my "overflow" of crap
- but every time it could be being dealt with, there seems to be some other essential task that drags on and on. I wonder how much of the next two days will actually get used for something constructive - and if I was to take a week off, just to "decompress", how much of that would be messed up? I actually haven't had an extended weekend since The Move - dare I try it...?

And could I used one of those days to deal with some other Tasks? I'm pretty sure I can get myself a *SCORE* on Task 73
73 - See a binturong in the flesh
All that needs is a few non-wet, non-windy days in a row--

Guess that's that plan knackered then.

Elsewhat... Well, that's it - we sold the car, that brave little Thunderbird 2 wannabe that worked so damn hard on "Lock The Door Day". It was just sitting parked, getting rained on - now, it becomes a friend's first wheels. Hooray!

Thinking of adjourning to the bedroom. It'll be a whole lot cooler there. Pity my entertainment options just got buggered AGAIN as the laptop reminds me again of its unresolved "reboot allergy" - another piece of business left undone in the weekend maelstrom.

Still... Doctor Who finale tomorrow, and a chance to watch Star Trek in HD on Sunday. Wheeeee...!

There, there - it's not so bad.

Posting just before Doctor Who again, 'cause I'm buggered if I know when else I'll get the chance. Yes, it's been another Bloody Saturday, with the "main event" being not only delayed until afternoon (AGAIN) and being hardly the intensive effort I'd expected (AGAIN) - it's like the whole tidying and sorting effort is being strung out as far as it will go just to fuck up as many Saturdays as possible. Today, there was "external interference" of the nephew variety, but still I found myself getting wound up come lunchtime.

I really can do without this. Do I have to grab all the stuff that's downstairs, and pack it into the office, rendering that room useless, just so I can have my Saturdays back? It's a pretty steep price to pay for a completed Mission 101 Task (53)...

I feel the urge to get away. Unfortunately, anything fun requires a long road journey, eating up at least half the day - but hey, half a day gets chewed up and spat out anyway! Next week is the Doctor Who season finale, so I may just head to Edinburgh the Saturday after, and try and polish off a Task or two at the Zoo - oh, and pretty soon, I may be booking my Patent Saturday jaunt, whatever the cost.

All was not lost, however. I have reached the end of the latest "work in progress", and posting should commence within the week. Just as long as I'm not screwed around too much.
