Seeking Sanctuary
10 Jul 2011 22:59Driven out of The Office by paint-fumes, resulting from a delayed start to one of my weekend "things to do", I found shelter in The Bedroom for most of tonight's Ultima Online activities. Got a decent signal, and I may even watch a movie (or a couple more episodes of Star Trek - Hidden Frontier) later...
I think I can call my "sort the notice board" Mission 101 Task completed. I've got it on the wall, and it's now serving as a "pit board" for writing posts - the rest of TDD-701 A Star Is Rising is marked out there by chapter number and planned day of posting, and hopefully that will, errr "keep me regular".
In the meantime, I'm having thoughts about TDD-702, and how to advance the story after A Star Is Rising. I so want to avoid another cosmic conflict, but when you're working on something with this kind of scope, that's not always easy. My usual antidote for something like that would be a quick Mane-of-Night adventure, but I have specific plans for how that's going to go. I may do a couple of "intermediary" stories for her, to keep things cooking.
Also in the meantime, an unexpected side-effect of The Move - I keep finding things I didn't know I'd packed, and I find myself thinking "what could I have kept if I hadn't brought this meaningless piece of shit with me?" I'll probably be doing this sort of things for years to come...
Update ...and here's another way The Move has fucked me about - my new monitor order has fallen through because of some shit to do with changing address. Oh brilliant.

A Half-Hearted Saturday.
9 Jul 2011 16:24First of all...
A Star Is Rising begins, and we say hello to one Lakaaren'kaeris of Shalnvassa - huntress, Fleet Defender of Dominion, a bright light on the dark frontier of the future. The new generation are making themselves known in style, as plans are set in motion...
Release Notes... Back to a normal posting schedule - next chapter on Monday!
Might as well cram this in while I can - it's not like I'm actually doing anything else right now.
About those "little jobs"... Forget painting that board that's sealing up the office fireplace - no sodding brushes. Typical of the way some of this Move has been "organised"...
However, I may be on the verge of completing a Mission 101 Task! One of the more half-hearted tasks on my list is
But then I missed the British Grand Prix qualifying. Kinda blows my "buzz" a bit...
Last night... I watched the DVD of the movie version of Kick Ass, and whilst it's entertaining, and downright good fun in parts (I'm talking Hit Girl's big fight to the tune of The Dickies' version of the Banana Splits theme), it's not as powerful as the original comics. The far too "larger than life" conclusion rather detracts from the movie as a whole, "softening the blow" a bit too much. As do the romantic elements. Overall, a decent attempt at rather contraversial material, but it could've been better.Score: 7.5/10
Ordered a new monitor. More desk-space, here I come!

70 - Re-organise my notice-boardand that notice board, thinned-down a whole bunch, is now hanging on my office wall! Gods, it's actually useable.
