And now I hurt in TWO places...

Warning - this is icky, but not otherwise offensive... )

Yeah, my elbow now looks like a false-colour image of a nebula taken by the Hubble. Sticking a plaster on it was A Bad Idea, it transpires.

Elsewhat... That's the AVENGERS BluRay on its way back to Amazon.

Oh, hold on...

I forgot one book on my "buy a book a month" Task list, and therefore yesterday's buying binge took me to the completion point for Task 29
29 Buy one book a month from an actual bookshop.
Okay, I might not have strictly bought "a book a month", but I did for most of the time, and and the end of it I had purchased 33 books, so that's as good as a *SCORE* for me.

That makes it one-third distance, with one full week to go. This weekend, I'll do some wrap-up, deciding which Mission-long Tasks are done, and which aren't. Right now, I'm scoping out some original comic art - maybe, if I win the auctions, I can snatch a victory, and another *SCORE*...

Here we go again...

This budget is, however, what The ConDemNation promised, and after weeks of hand-wringing speculation, the only real negative is the stepping up of Value Added Tax from 17.5% to 20% in the New Year. With the pound struggling against the dollar, it looks like my big comic orders, will have to be reined in a bit - but then again, I usually only get anything that's likely to attract VAT maybe twice a year (for Spiritwalk and Patent Saturday).

At least we've had a really nice day to take the sting off it all - a glorious enough day for "coffee-break" on the grass outside the lab, and an after-work paddle along the beach (fabulous). After that, I keep my "buy a book a month" Task
29 - Buy a book a month from an actual bookshop
on course - now let's see if I can squeeze in making a dinner this month (set for tomorrow) and a classic movie before the 30th...

Oh, and Chapter 5 of TDD-606 The Ragged Edge has advanced considerably since last time - a chunk dealt with last night instead of net-based procrastination, and another at lunch. I can conclude this story very soon - maybe even tonight...

Mission 101 - Update... Right... that's
29 - Buy a book a month from an actual bookshop (3/33)
sorted for another month, and yes, it's another Pratchett - Equal Rites - even though I haven't finished the second one yet. I had hoped to track down one of several recommended "writers' must-haves", but in the end, I surrendered, and went for the easy option. No sign of a collected edition of Kick Ass, sadly.

Meanwhile, I am declaring
80 - Publicly "confront" a major politician who deserves it!
"in progress", 'cause I know who my target is going to be - the New Liebour cockpiece stealing a chunk of what's rightfully ours. Yeah, Alistair, I mean you.

The Burning Question: "Would you pay for online news?" (from the Times newspaper's website, soon to be charging £1 a day)

Answer: No.

Now ask me something important. More perhaps later, or maybe I'll finish the writing I have in progress. Possibly a better use of my time...

My mother had a fall today, and broke her shoulder. That rather complicates things. A lot.

The contract is in for The New Work, which certainly looks like half-days after this incident. I've managed to make some headway on monthly tasks, and one more day-to-day one:
3 - Complete at least 100 worthwhile walks (at least one hour outdoors) a year (13/100, 0/100, 0/75) - today's racing around counts as TWO walks. DON'T try and argue the case.
9 - Cook dinner at least once a month (2/33) - fish and chips, ice-cream and chocolate sauce
29 - Buy a book a month from an actual bookshop (2/33) - The Light Fantastic

Development News... I got some good work done on Chapter 8 of TDD-605 "She Returns" this morning, which I'll be typing up later, hopefully. This story should be done soon, barring any complications, but subsequent writing may be delayed. Sorry, but that may just be the way of things.

Should've known it was a bad move to buy a brand new Moleskine for my Mission stuff...
