Thanks for letting me know about giving feedback. I ask these days as I got snapped at once for not asking before giving advice here on 101.
I like the list for its variety and interesting objectives - learn non-human languages. The criticism that I have is the some of your goals are not SMART goals lacking definitive ends. Cleaning those up I think would improve the list.

http://www.goal-setting-guide.com/smart-goals.html

I pay particular attention to health goals (a pet area of mine) and you have
- Lose a meaningful amount of weight
- Eat more sensibly
How much weight or what is your goal weight and by when? Also what is sensible eating? Some people have more success with process goals for health issues. For instance maintain a food journal, eat 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day for 30 days, try a fruit or vegetable each week for 3 months, give up fizzy drinks etc. Those process changes often result in health changes. I for instance want to gain muscle mass so I currently have a process goal (not on 101) of lifting weights 4 times per week and eating 180 g of protein a day and 8 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables.
Anyway some food for thought.
Have fun with your goals and I think it is great that you got to make your snowman so soon.

Thanks for the feedback!

Last things first...

- "Eat more sensibly" - that means less unhealthy snacks, more fruit, more veg, and so far, I am managing to do this, as I have before. I did do a food journal before, with limited success, so maybe that's something worth trying again. I don't eat big portions at meal-times, so I'm not sure how much I can "cut out" - dunno how much sense that makes...

- "meaningful" weight loss - my first thought is "visible", although last time I made that kind of progress, my confidence was quickly undermined by family, and back on it went. As long as I feel better about myself as a result, anything is worth it. Yeah, I know, doesn't help much, does it?

As far as some of the other goals not having definitive ends, I think there's a similar train of thought going - if I feel better about myself at the conclusion, that goes in the "win" column. The snow-snake was one of those, as it was the most exercise I'd had for a while, and my thigh-muscles are still stiff from the exertion - that actually feels GOOD, in a crazy way.

Please continue to offer feedback - the fact that someone's listening is sure to be a great help.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a better sense of what you are doing.

Regarding eating sensibly you may want to make a sub goal of eating 5 to 10 fruits and vegetables a day that have not been heavily cooked (e.g. fried) or trying one new fruit or veg a month etc.and eliminate one bad food a day from your diet e.g. chips, crisps, full fat milk, etc. I highly recommend food journaling.

Regarding weight loss look to get some positive social support amongst friends or even family. Look for someone who has lost weight or is doing so and you can support each other. Reflect on the obstacles that your family throw up and develop two solutions to each one.

I highly recommend resistance training as part of a weight loss goal as it helps to maintain and build muscle and encourages burning of fat. That is a whole separate topic.

Thanks again for your input. I'm already doing a couple of the things you suggest - we very rarely fry anything, grilling instead, and I've been on skimmed milk for some years!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner - been working these last two weeks, and now I can focus on the whole thing more clearly.
