So, now there's something
GOOD on TV again -
Torchwood: Miracle Day. A proper review would probably require seeing a few more episodes to see just how things develop, I'm thinking, but so far, we have a very interesting premise - the "death of death" - the return of The Man Who Cannot Die (yeah, it's
Jack), and some really nasty stuff well in keeping with the darkness inherent in any venture with the label "Torchwood"... and, I believe, a huge perhaps incidental hint at the cause of it all, when Jack makes an intriguing choice of pseudonym...
*** SPOILERS...? ***"Owen Harper..." - yes, the other undying man, who never healed injuries, just like the victims of "Miracle Day". He was apparently "released" from his condition stopping a nuclear power station from going critical at the end of Season Two. I'm thinking he was atomised, and has spent the last two years or so circulating in the atmosphere, so that everyone has breathed some of him in. Add some "hits the world all at once" trigger - like a solar flare - and there's your freaking "miracle"...*** END SPOILERS ***Why the reluctance to give a more in-depth review? Well, the "new team" is still to properly assemble, and once we get past the "Mexican stand-off" stage,
then we can talk.
Final Verdict: A good start that hasn't pulled any punches. Roll on Episode 2! Score: 8/10Meanwhile... As mentioned previously, I'm restarting
TDD-702 title to be confirmed, and things are working out a good bit better. I might even be able to build up some momentum this weekend...
Oh, hold on - there's
Potter 7.2 to go to tomorrow afternoon. I'm getting the feeling that, just maybe, the final Potter will so totally bogart Screen 1 at the local cinema that I'll have to go out of town to catch
Captain America - The First Avenger on a decent screen on opening day. Bugger.
