Oh, for fnaj's sake, the Government, in league with (apparently) the other two major parties (no, sorry, make that the Government and the ONE remaining non-Government party), are rushing through a law that's the much dreaded "Snooper's Charter", giving them the power to require ISPs to retain your web history, emails and so on "just in case you might be a terrorist".

Bullshit. Premium grade top-of-the-range BULLSHIT.

The terrorists are on the "dark net", laughing their asses off at us right now. Put simply, they won by default - they managed to bring our society down, and won't have to fire a shot.

I know who I'm more worried about, and I came VERY close to being caught up in a terrorist atrocity (at Harrod's) some years back. I sure as hell DON'T trust our powers that be with ANY of my information, not when they've acted just like North Korea or old-fashioned totalitarian Romania to get their way...

It'll be interesting to see what "hacktivists" "Anonymous" do about this. Now's the time for them to stand up and fight for what they SEEM to believe in. Or do they only do that if it gets them on TV bitching about the American government...?

Another day, another step forward on The March To Season 6, as I find myself closing in on the conclusion of TDD-511 "The Endless Dance... III". Monday Night Football gives me the ideal opportunity to forge forward, and complete the final chapter of this particular story - it only needs a few more "pages", providing a lead-in to TDD-512 "The Season Finale" (title TBA)...

Meanwhile... Oh dear, here we go again. In a desperate panic to prop itself up in the wake of ongoing economic crisis, Glorious Gordon and The Absolute Joke Party have come up with another "good news" story - their amazing new "UK Council for Child Internet Safety", which will supposedly protect the young from from all the nasty people on the nasty old "interweb"...

We already have people whose job is to ensure child safety. They're called PARENTS - you might remember them from the ancient days pre-internet, pre-mobile phones, pre-binge drinking. If these "parents" actually do their job - refusing to let their offspring have net-enabled computers in their bedrooms, and actually learning to use and control the damn things in the first place - there's no need to waste even more taxpayers' money on another "wizard wheeze". It's not "too complicated" - you're just too damn lazy, and too happy to leave YOUR duties to other people...

...which is exactly why we're in the mess we have to suffer now.

Do I wish the internet had been around when I was at school? Absolutely - I would probably have found a fulfilling career as a result, rather than falling into the uncaring clutches of The Fucking System - but I would also have hoped there would have been some common sense action from the parental generation, which these days just can't be bothered, just like their foul-mouthed, near-brain-dead spawn...
