I think I just worked out who River Song (in Doctor Who) is...

Massive spoiler potential! )

Watch the show. See if I'm right. Meanwhile...

Development News... Strong progress continues on TDD-701: After The Fall. I'm powering through Chapter 3 - it should be done very soon, and Chapter 4 will pretty much write itself. A good chunk of Chapter 5 is already done - could be all finished by week's end!

TDD-701 will post mid-late June, with a view to getting a regular, hopefully monthly posting schedule in place. If I can keep that up, I could probably declare Mission Task 45
45 - Make regular progress on current and forthcoming "projects"
a done deal!

Could do with some substantial Mission progress about now - at least I have a few days before the end of the month, and the next update report. There's plenty to do, but a whole summer just ahead...

Tomorrow... The THOR trip!

So much for Thursday "Writing Hour". A transient network "hiccup" buggered my schedule, and by the time I got myself settled upstairs, it was time to fire up Ultima Online in preparation for the Thursday guild hunt... which didn't really materialise. Too few people meant a "huntlet" that gradually dissolved - bloody soccer...

Maybe tonight will be different.

...

Stop sniggering at the back.

Yesterday wasn't a total failure - I corrected a character reference or five, and I spell-checked the current version of TDD-606 The Ragged Edge. Talking of which, I'm now into Chapter 4, with a view to closing out at five, and I'm going to rehabilitate my old Mission 101 project book, so I can keep a better track on how the "Finish Season Six This Year" plan is progressing. If I manage to nail that, I think it'd be fair to call Task 45
45 - Make regular progress on current and forthcoming "projects"
completed, especially if I'm adding to To Be Continued at the same time.

Okay, time to head up the stairs, and make a start on the weekend. All kindsa stuff to do - such as another two big patch sessions to get the lappy and the netbook up to speed on UO...

In my attempt to make good on Mission 101 Task 45 - that's
45 - Make regular progress on current and forthcoming "projects"
I decided to declare an hour of that "spare time" after dinner, and before the start of my usual online session, as "Writing Time", a slot purely for project work. That hasn't really worked out, especially when I keep having to print out CLAN-related e-mails, and only the laptop is currently set up to handle that - by the time I've set up the laptop, printed the relevant material, and "shut up shop" again, it's nearly 7pm, and time for online business...

I'm going to try and change that, starting tonight. There's absolutely no point in trying to fit it in at the end of the day, 'cause that's when I start falling asleep at the keyboard - the only real negative consequence of New Work - and I'm not about to extend my lunch break...

Meanwhile... I guess Stephen Fry's Doctor Who script got squeezed out again... Stephen, sweetie-darling, I was watching the show before you got famous, and I fully intend to continue to do so, "children's show" or not.

And finally... Oi, Broadband - don't you fnajing dare. I do not want to spend Writing Hour dealing with network "quirks".

*adds "defrag main PC" to the "To Do" list, in the hope that will improve matters....*

Oooohkay, now - let's see...

Ah yes; yesterday: I managed to make some Mission 101 progress!
7 - Learn to cook 12 dishes
Yesterday was "office coffee morning" day, when people bring cake, usually made themselves. I brought home-baked banana muffins! They weren't perfect, but they went down well enough, and the effort was much appreciated - as was the feedback. Next time will be different - and better!

So that's two dishes now for Task 7. Must find more recipes to try.

Also... Whilst checking the number of the "learn to cook twelve dishes" task, I remembered Task 45
45 - Make regular progress on current and forthcoming "projects"
and on the spot decided to have Darkhawk Season 6 done in 52 chapters - one chapter a week, minimum. However... when I read through the "prep-sheets" for the rest of the Season, the approximate number of chapters required came out as thirty-eight - not much more than half the suggested figure. That would suggest that, just maybe, I could have the Season finished - including Reignfall - by the end of the year...

More Mission stuff... Must remember to check whether Perth counts as a city, for Task 19
19 - Visit five cities not on my regular "list"
- that would mean tackling two tasks in one go on August 1st.

(Update: I'd say "yes" to Perth's city status, based on the existence of perthcity.co.uk...)

Family Matters... My great-aunt's will could be finalised and dealt with very soon. Now that would be very good news, in a number of ways - enough to counteract the potential hassle.

And finally - more comics... So far, I'm quite impressed by Marvel's "Heroic Age". Avengers and Secret Avengers have both started off well - but please, let's not have everything geared solely towards the next "big event". Let's have some nice, "organic" stories for a change. Give the audience time to get their breath back. OK?

Also, at "The Distinguished Competition", the Brightest Day 26-issue maxi-series, which I had almost decided not to buy, is following on nicely from Blackest Night. For every step forward, about half a dozen new questions crop up. It's going to get hectic...
