In Today's Episode... The Last Ride of House Glitterthorn concludes - an enemy is confronted, blood is spilled, a mystery is unmasked... and the future looks a little more unclear...

Release Notes... And done with just under an hour to go!

Meanwhile... Back to "normal" tomorrow. Several matters still need my attention, but right now, I am DONE.

In Today's Episode... The Last Ride of House Glitterthorn approaches its conclusion, as House Glitterthorn and their mysterious ally stage the kind of rescue mission to make the gods tremble...

Later today, the final conclusion (which I may just sit up and complete)!

In Today's Episode... The Last Ride of House Glitterthorn continues, and our heroes reach their destination, only to discover the magnitude of the task that lies ahead - but a surprise is on its way...

Release Notes... Just a quick post to confirm that Chapter 2 IS now "live". Now back to Chapter 3, while I still have time...

Update... Nope, I don't have the time, due to a sudden requirement to visit a neighbour. Chapter 3, due for posting at 00:01, now becomes Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, the first of which posts at 00:01 as planned, and the second posts whenever it's ready.

I won't be doing a Christmas Special like this again. Not unless it's all written up and ship-shape well before time.

Development News... Yes - Chapter 3 of The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn is well underway, and at this pace, should be done in plenty of time for its scheduled posting slot. If I don't have to spend valuable time on more mundane duties...

Meanwhile... Finally got to see all of Despicable Me, as today's shopping for essentials brought me the opportunity to grab a cheap DVD copy. Pity no BluRays were similarly reduced in price, but hey, you get what you can get.

In The News... The Russians have successfully launched a Soyuz mission, after several screw-ups recently. They really need to get their act together, 'cause we may just lose the International Space Station if the Russian space program - the only means of recrewing and resupplying the station - grinds to a halt. It'd be even worse if we leave crewmen up there to die, as that would pretty much kill manned space-flight.

Development News... So that's the Christmas Special good up to and including New Year's Eve, now that Chapter 2 has been pieced together from existing material, and stuff from last night. Next up: the main event...

Review: Doctor Who - The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe... It's now tradition for the family to gather around an early evening Doctor Who special on Christmas Day, and whilst it's a noble thing to attempt, the results vary quite substantially, year by year. Last year, the first for eleventh Doctor Matt Smith, the special was so unrelentingly Christmas-themed, you'd think it would crash and burn...

The Final Verdict: Not TOO derivative of Narnia, thankfully. Festive, and not entirely drowning in sentimentality - but still lacking something... 7/10

And Finally... Bloody hell, it's warm right now. Oh, and the Redskins are now heading for a multi-way tie for the first round draft pick. To be honest, we could use it...

In Today's Episode... The Last Ride of House Glitterthorn begins, and the team reassembles, perhaps for the last time. Some business remains unresolved, and the legacy of Overlord Glitterthorn cannot be laid to rest until one lost little bird is brought home...

Release Notes... This story is now OFFICIALLY posting on a 25-12/31-12/01-01 schedule, posting at The Secret Adventures of Mane-of-Night.

Elsewhat... The day is winding down, and all has been going just fine. I'm about to power down, and sit back to watch the rest of Armageddon. Chapter 2 of the Christmas Special will be a major focus of attention tomorrow, situation allowing - and I may just squeeze in a Doctor Who review (what, no teasers?)...

And to all, a good night...

Final Posting Plan... The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn will be posting on Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. There hasn't been a chance to write since lunch yesterday, and hopefully I can use this revised schedule to get the necessary work done. Chapter 2 could be done in time to allow a Christmas Eve Chapter 1 posting, followed by Chapter 2 tomorrow, but Chapter 3 would never be ready for its originally planned "go-date" of the 26th at the current pace. Some things are just not meant to be, it seems.

Okay, I'm going to give the last part of Doctor Who: Nornets' Nest another go, and get that writing done while Star Trek is on (again). That should just about take us up to bed-time...

Yay! Off work 'til next year! meanwhile, there's important business to deal with. First up...

Development News... I'm revising the posting schedule for The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn. Chapter 1 looks set to be going live on Christmas Day, Chapter 2 on Boxing Day, and Chapter 3 on New Year's Day, unless there are any more complications, in which case Chapter 2 may slip a little. I hope to avoid that, but not a whole bunch of stuff is in my hands - tomorrow has family lunch, and a bunch of Big Day prep...

Let's see if I can get some "down time" in before the chaos starts. Or I would, if I didn't have present tags to write...

Hm. Not been the best of days, starting and ending in disappointing fashion - and the rest didn't entirely go to plan, either. Writing got torpedoed by a computer blue-screen at work, which messed up the Firefox update on my work PC, AND killed a big chunk of the work I've been doing. Still, I managed to earn a hug along the way, and that helped smooth things out. I'll hold on to that happy memory, and let the rest of it slide.

Early to bed, I think, for some pre-sleepybyes writing. I have Saturday covered, now that an extended Chapter 1 of The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn is "in the bag", but I'd like to have Chapter 2 done before posting begins. I have no idea how much free time I'll get before The Big Day - I was hoping I'd managed to finish the grocery shopping, but there seem to be little things needing bought almost up to the last minute. *sighs*

And relax...

Story development continues for The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn, with all the latest writings typed up, and set into some semblance of proper order. Pieces of the story are starting to emerge by themselves (or so it seems), and I should be able to make the deadline for completing this story in time for its festive posting schedule. Tomorrow is the posting day for the last part of TDD-704, leaving everything clear for the Christmas Special's completion.

Right now, however, I'm checking out the start of BBC Radio 4 Extra's production of Lovecraft's epic At The Mountains Of Madness. Thankfully, we're not enduring Antarctic weather at the moment - if anything, it's turning warmer. Write off any White Christmas this year...

Elsewhat... I'm thinking that Christmas shopping can be all but declared completed, at least online. Last-minute delivery options seem to have expired, and local outlets appear to have sold out of anything desireable. I am adding to my "Christmas stocking", however, and "perishable" presents are on my list for the end of the working week, at which time I will be getting some much anticipated time off over the festive period. I'm not entirely certain whether I should "push the boat out", stocks allowing...

Every Silver Lining... approaches its conclusion, and Brighthawk has no choice but to rethink the entire rescue strategy, thanks to the misguided actions of those she's been trying to help. Is there enough time to save millions - or is the unthinkable now inevitable...?

Release Notes... Huh? "...what Emergency Intervention did in the Kaav'reem system a few years back"? Try ...Her Terrible Swift Sword - Chapter 4!

Development News... Okay, that's Chapter 1 of The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn "in the can". Elements of Chapter 2 are already in place, and some of the remaining story is in rough form (in my head, basically). So, that's Christmas Eve sorted, then - and I'm on course to complete the story in time. No, really.

Development News... Sports news: REDSKINS WIN! PACKERS LOSE... but not in the same game. Some hope...
patentdragon: (Default)
Every Silver Lining... begins - and the rest of the universe starts to take notice of what's happening at Tol'Celpres. A major operation is taking shape, but if Brighthawk and her companions are right, none of it may (they hope) be necessary.

Release Notes... Here we go - the final part of the "MDI Trilogy" begins, in the run-up to Christmas. If things stay on course, the final chapter will air on the 20th - nicely in time for the launch of The Christmas Special...

Meanwhile... That's a big slice of Christmas shopping done - and what a difference a year makes. Amazon sent out two key presents within 36 hours, so I guess they're pushing the boat out to regain whatever ground they lost when parcels got delayed by "Big Freeze 2010" - uh oh, better not mention that in case I jinx it...

Today's Burning Question...

Why are KISS still not inducted into The Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame?

I mean, COME ON. Every year, this makes absolutely NO SENSE AT ALL.

Development News... None. I was going to expand on the early stages of The Last Ride Of House Glitterthorn at lunchtime, but I'd only just switched the netbook on when an expected phone call came through. Needless to say, I'm reclaiming that 15 minutes of lost lunch on my next time-sheet.

Writing hasn't been easy lately, mostly due to the run-up to Operation Funplex. That event was never going to be the "creative retreat" I've had in mind for even I can't recall how long, but I did manage to get a few pages done, bringing the main cast back into "the fold". However, it's what comes next that's the problem - I'll see what I can pull together tomorrow.

Oh, and this goes out to Chuck Norris. I couldn't care less about *gags* World of Warcraft. Ultima Online for life, bitch.

Bloody hell, I'm cold. End of that subject, because whining about it just wears the shine off my post-Patent Saturday good mood. My monthly Mission 101 report will have to wait a while longer, after some technical issues (I wasted about an hour retrieving prop-related videos from a buggy computer only to find they're right here on the net book...). Grrrr...

Whine whine, gripe gripe. Hard to believe I've not long come back from the best time I've had since New York. I have a number of "cash dumps", spare change (and some) intended for various purposes, and I'm thinking of consolidating it all and putting it towards Operation Funplex II. That, or some more wardrobe options - I really could do with another skirt like my craft project, which was such a success.

I'm not going to hang about trying to pad this post out. I have a "Christmas Special" to work on, with some more type-up still to do from Friday. Oh, and maybe a post-script to the epilogue for TDD-704 Every Silver Lining.... Something else may just need to be said...

Posting begins on TDD-704 next Saturday.
