Yay! A griefless day, with some idea-crunching thrown in. In general, not bad - a few story concepts are closer to getting "the green light", and a few more have surfaced, which should help Mane-of-Night Season 2 on its way. I'm also thinking, just right now, of a few short "character snapshots" to keep The Darkhawk Diaries moving along too - Darkhawk may be doing her "new-born goddess" thing, and Mane-of-Night is busy with Secret Adventures, but there are others, some of whom are yet to find a voice and get a say from their point of view. For example, it'd be interesting to see how Tony Fulcher's parents deal with their son coming out of his coma and becoming a superhero, and that could serve as a "Mars 2007" vehicle...

Oooh, piece of candy...! I may get an early night, and put some thought into this. It would be nice to change focus for a while, before breaking ground on MoN-203.

In The News... Parkinson: 'Goody was exploited' - pretty much tells it like it is (was).

And finally... Been through last year's cinema tickets, and I honestly don't think this year is going to be very strong - certainly nothing like as strong as 2008 (The Dark Knight, anyone?). Still plenty of fun on the way - but it would be nice for there to be some surprise competitors sneaking in from nowhere...

In Today's Episode... The One-Zero-One venture into occupied territory on a vital mission as

Faenri Versus Dominion
continues...

...and, of course, the universe has at last come full circle. A lifetime ago, a boy imagined a future that included a manned base on Mars, from which humans and aliens protected the Earth from alien threats. The story began in the year 2007 - and at the time, that felt so far away.

In time, the story shifted to the present, and to Earth, then out into space. Characters came and went, enemies too, but some constants remained. A central character, the idea of battles fought beyond the knowledge of Earth-folk in the here and now. Gradually, a history began to form, a backbone - a road to the inevitable.

As the Enterprise theme goes: "It's a long road, getting from there to here..."

2007 is now. That's kinda scary, but all the pieces are in place, the links joined, and united into a single chain.

Rhagaan "Rex" Tyro - your moment has come. We will be hearing more of his story in the year to come.

In Other News...

2006 - Good - Civil War... Daleks vs Cybermen... POTC: Dead Man's Chest... Superman Returns... The Wedding of BB and SiL... Rush In Rio... the return of the New Orleans Saints... the return of the Chicago Bears... decent weather... whatever employment I could find... the self-absorbed English getting thrashed at soccer AND cricket... Nextwave... webcomics...

2006 - Bad - The Jane Longhurst Law... The Redskins... The Fucking System... climate change bullshit... unfinished projects... Superbowl on ITV... songs that just won't fucking go away... "celebrities"... Dave Cockrum dying... Doctor Who spin-offs threatening to suck resources out of the core series... PC games requiring monstrous specs... liars...

And Finally... I would've posted something last night, but the weather was pretty hairy, and there were a few power spikes. Taking no chances, folks...

So much for what I was going to do (whatever that was)...

BB and SIL have a project of their own in mind, and lending a hand ate most of the afternoon. That probably means another late night for me, which may just be made easier by the mist that's rolling in as I write, obscuring just about everything I can see from my window. It therefore is not hitting "record-setting temperatures" yet again, making weather forecasters in this country liars.

Project News... A change of story order may be on the cards, for sake of story flow. The next two episodes - "Lockdown" and "Trial Of A Legend" - run side by side, with wholly separate casts of characters in different locations, BUT they could be posted in current or reverse order, with only the end of "TOAL" being affected. I could write both in a similar way to how they work in continuity, that is "side-by-side", but "Lockdown" is in a more writeable position right now than "TOAL"...

I could, of course, interweave the two stories, going from one to another by way of a "Meanwhile...", which would be a change from the way things go normally. Interesting - I'll have to look into that.

More news on that as and when things get moving. The final chapter of "Kings, Knights and Pawns" is due tomorrow, then I'm taking a week's "study leave" before the next story commences. Season 4 is drawing to a close, and MMVII is on the horizon...

In Today's Episode: A risky course of action is proposed as "The Endless Dance Of Light And Shadow" begins in The Darkhawk Diaries. Can Dominion and the Confederacy prevent another Sentinel Incident...?

This story has taken a little longer to prepare, but everything is now ready. As mentioned previously, the past and the future hinge on what happens in the next seven chapters - how this all began and where it's all going are on a collision course... time of impact, 2007.

A lot of work has gone into getting this story going, hence the lack of an entry yesterday. Back to normal from now on.

In Other News... X-Men III tomorrow! Now I need to find a "classic" Phoenix trading card to wear...

P.S. There wasn't an exam yesterday afternoon. We waited half an hour, as directed, then packed up and called it quits. Hope the guy's confidence in his other results is well-founded. :/
