Previously...

The headline pretty much says it all. Season 7 is too fucked up for me to want to continue.

Tomorrow, back to things that don't fucking hate me.

And after an hour and a bit of unsatisfying Ultima Online - not the game's fault, blame my general attitude - I went back in... and the fleet I had just abandoned, as a result of a misunderstanding that just managed to "flip my switch", were more than happy to pick up my "contract" again. I hadn't burned my bridges after all, so I should count myself lucky.

We then teamed up to give the Special Task Force mission that started the landslide another go... and we kicked its ass. The difficulty level has still been rather viciously upgraded - but we won. Could that have been the Official response to what appears to be a major annoyance for a whole bunch of players?

And so, to bed. I'll still be taking a semi-break, and maybe advance a few things...

Argh.

So, Star Trek Online is now into its much-anticipated Season 7 - and it very nearly managed to destroy my will to fucking live. I very nearly bailed on my fleet-mates during the new Special Task Force space mission against the Borg Queen - it was insta-kill after insta-kill, like a really, really bad EM event in Ultima Online.

And I have to wait nearly TWO FUCKING DAYS to get the results of my Reputation special projects...?

Think I'll take a step back, and... y'know, maybe do something worthwhile with my time instead?

Talk about sucking the fun out of something...

Hmph. So Star Trek Online is being a bitch, is it? Well, I can just sit back and not bother for a while, and it don't hurt me none...

I have a CSI Miami to catch up on from Saturday, so I'll do just that when I'm done with this. :P

Mission 101 Task 4 Update... The weather is looking pretty good for "The Big Hike" - which means that, if real life was STO, I'd be three-quarters of the way there, then find myself back home again.

On The Outside, Looking In continues, as Brighthawk and her team begin the latest stage of exploring what lies just beyond Darkhawk's kingdom. Lending a helping hand is another new face - how much help the newcomer is actually going to be remains to be seen...

Release Notes... Still on target! In the meantime, let's see if I can track down my list of known members of Talona's "One-Thirteen" - I may need some more names and powers soon...

Star Trek Online News... It appears that the "mythical" invisible Borg insta-kill torpedo does exist after all, and is not just a figment of my frustrated imagination!

In Today's Episode... PIRATES OF FREEPORT nears its conclusion, as Mane-of-Night takes the battle to her recent employers, with unexpected and potentially disastrous consequences for her, the city, and a mysterious "someone else" on the ship...

Release Notes... TWO days to go - time to get serious on finishing this...

Meanwhile... Take a good long look at BaneFyre here, 'cause it's all over for DC Universe Online. The laptop had its first "scary moment", failing to start up Window properly, and in order to recover from that, it had to restore from an earlier point - before I downloaded, and installed - and downloaded - the game. I'm not doing that again. Sorry, girl.

And I am now so glad I wasn't able to buy any "game-cash" for it.

It could, however, have been far worse. Until the error was cleared (I'm praying permanently - I'm thinking it was something to do with a Windows Update session), Star Trek Online seemed to be stuck in some kind of error-loop. That needs to be confirmed as sorted now, so I better go blast some more Romulans...

Right. DC Universe Online is officially dead to me, as of tonight. I am so damned glad I never found any game-cash cards for this, as anything would have been money wasted. I wasted a whole day of my life just waiting for the fucking thing to install, and I can't finish a single mission (apart from my very first) without running out of healing, getting knocked out about twenty times, and having my gear trashed in the process.

I press the "ESC" key to "flee" one last time. Goodbye, Banefyre - you were never meant to be a hero after all.

Back to Star Trek Online and Skyrim for me. And maybe some writing - actually, I will be having a game-free day sometime very soon, just so I can do that. I may even go to bed early, and "pen and paper" what needs done.

I would report about the Olympic Torch relay coming through town, but I'm simply not in the mood any more. Maybe tomorrow...

In Today's Episode... PIRATES OF FREEPORT continues, and Mane-of-Night gets more "up-close and personal" with her audience, and some of them have more than watching dancers on their minds. Our heroine may have a more complicated job to do than she expected...

Release Notes... I would've had this blog post in "under the wire" if I hadn't wanted to get the story post in on time. Oh yeah, and the stupid spelling checking in Open Office. How do I tell it just to use the UK dictionary?

Elsewhat... I really, really hate this stupid split-season of Formula 1 coverage. Canada is one of those races getting full coverage on what I would NOT call a public channel, and not only did I miss the start of the "highlights" package, I barely saw any of the race. Why can't the satellite channels take the sodding European soccer championships instead? That's going to be wall-to-wall for about a month, on TWO of the "terrestrial" channels. FFS...

And Finally... I may just have lost interest in DC Universe Online. I took on a different, lower-level mission, but here we go again - an "end-mission" than I can't beat. That gets "old" very quickly - especially when you're having to run away to get gear repaired - and PAY for it - after three attempts. Just TOO frustrating.

First Impressions... So I finally got DC Universe Online installed and patched, created a fairly satisfying heroine, and dived in. The first part of the game - its tutorial "level" - was a lot of fun, as was the first mission once you escape to Metropolis, featuring one of my favourite DC characters, Zatanna. Mission Two, with another favourite, Raven of the Titans, at its core, started off well enough, and even my first defeats were no game breaker...

And then I got to the point of reaching the captured heroes - Raven's team-mates. "Outclassed" is the word, I think. I don't have the powers, or the skill with the controls to stand much of a chance. I did defeat my first opponent at about the third attempt, but he was absolutely NO HELP, just when I really needed it. Cue a frustrated log out, and a search for a source of "inside information"...

My character is Level 8. In the video I finally located, the player was at Level 13. I think some serious training and grinding elsewhere is necessary before I can try this again, which is a damn pity, as it somewhat breaks the "feel" of the game. I shouldn't be able to run away, and come back several weeks later to kick the ass of this mission.

I didn't really get into Star Trek Online until someone showed me how to equip and manage my ship. Seems like this is the same deal, of sorts...

Sorry, Raven - a rescue will have to wait.

In Today's Episode... our heroine's adventures in Freeport continue as PIRATES OF FREEPORT begins! Mane-of-Night gets into "the swing of things", and a number of individuals get very interested as she takes to the stage...

Release Notes... So pissed off by stupid games downloads, and their total bogarting of my broadband that I decided to start posting the next story, which is still to be completed. *sighs*

Elsewhat... DC Universe Online better be absolutely mind-blowing. It's taking a whole day to download and install... in fact, I may not bother after all. This is just fucking stupid. 25Gb of downloads and it's STILL NOT FINISHED - and to make matters worse, I can't play anything else while it's doing it?

*kills the download* Right. Back to Skyrim, and/or Federation Space... and then, at some point, to bed. Hopefully a dry one this time.
