Wow. And Whoa.

Since lunchtime, I have been overawed by something I came across on a visit to the Massively website. It's the "final cut movie" of troubled MMO Final Fantasy XIV - yesterday, the final event in the game before its reworking for next year took place, and after the servers went down, the movie was aired to players.
Given previous semi-satisfactory attempts to embed videos, I've included this one after the cut...
I've never played the game - I don't want to get into another pay-to-play MMO - but holy sh8, what an ending. "Glorious", I suppose you could call it, and damn I know none of these characters or their back-stories, but I very nearly cried. Beautiful...
..and then, in the comments, as I was metabolising the emotion invested in what I'd seen, I read this:
I'd rather have that than just see the screen go black for the last time on any game I play.

(x.armitage.iii) Amazing cut scene. It did make me a little sad to think this is how my character met her end.Ah, crap.
I'd rather have that than just see the screen go black for the last time on any game I play.
