We did it. One living room fit to "live" in - and watch Doctor Who in. I've even personalised my walls some more, putting up some pictures in the bedroom and finally put my Captain America shield up over my office fireplace.
Pity the fancy TV stand was incomplete, but that was the only negative. I'm not going to count any lack of Mission 101 progress as a failure, such is the feeling of having actually done something.
Oh, yeah - Doctor Who - 608: Let's Kill Hitler. I don't think anyone except Steven Moffat had the slightest idea what was coming...
Surprises are very much the order of the day as part two of Season Six kicks off - and first of all is the appearance of a new character, seemingly out of thin air. The TARDIS gains a new crew-member...
Whoa - hold everything; a regeneration later, and a big piece of the River Song story is revealed. The Doctor did find Melody Pond, but in spectacularly twisted Moffat-style fashion - and in truth, it was really the other way around. Oh, and the bad guy in this episode is not who you'd expect - titles can be deceptive.
The most contentious character in the episode should have been Hitler, but he doesn't feature for long, so the outraged voices should be mostly stilled, unless they can't get their heads around a convoluted plot, and one character dying again - he certainly seems to be making a habit of it, but this time, the "get-out" serves to simplify part of the ongoing "DocSong" dynamic.
This is an episode in which we're told a lot, and several essential pieces of the River Song mythos slot into place - maybe too many given how we've been drip-fed stuff up until now. The gloves are very much off now, and with every answer, we get more questions...
Oh, and a name is mentioned that we haven't heard for quite a while. The name "The Silence" gets some context at last, but we're still no closer to learning just what they want, or what they have to do with last year's big mystery - just who did blow up the TARDIS, and why?
Five chapters to go, oh best beloved. Strap in for quite a ride to come...
The Verdict: History takes a back seat as The Doctor returns, and the plot thickens in most satisfyingly unpredictable fashion. Score: 8/10
Looks like we're in for a wild six five Saturdays...
