Every time I try to get properly settled here - here being "The New Place" - something seems to come along to get me riled, and unsettled. I found traces of "unwelcome lodgers" - vermin, basically - somewhere I hadn't encountered it before. I had so hoped to have this behind me after my previous apparent success, and now that the attic woodworm has been treated, but noooo, there has to be a "surprise package" in a groove on the top of the box I store my netbook in...

One dead silverfish.

There. I've said it. The little bastards eat paper - and guess who's got a twenty-box comic collection? Previously, they were only in the bathroom, and summarily subjected to a comprehensive chemical attack. Twice. This discovery means remains somehow got into either the office, or my bedroom. Passive transfer of dead material, maybe something from the garden that brushed off onto my box... or signs of a spreading problem?

Ah CRAP. Now I'm semi-freaking out. I HATE this kind of crap. We never had any such problems back at 99...

I can't concentrate now. Forget Tasks, or writing - I can't help watching the sodding floors.

Setting a "trap" tonight. Office first - and I hope that catching nothing means nothing to worry about.

I -hate- silverfish. I have a fear of spiders in general, but silverfish are the only other kind of bug that gives me the heebie-jeebies. We have them in our bathroom every so often, and once I saw one in my closet. I didn't know they eat paper *fears for her books*

Thanks for commenting!

Sorry if I managed to freak you out, too. My trap has yielded nothing, in either of the places I put it, but the damn things are around. A work colleague says she knows a relative got rid of hers completely, and has said she'll get the "recipe" for that solution when they next meet. I will most gladly pass it on!
