The sun is shining. The skies are clear. Humanity is still gnawing its own foot off...
Last night, I heard some talk about trouble in Norway. Today, I heard the full scope of it - and sadly, I'm not as surprised by it as I should be. Humanity is notorious for its ability to resort to inhumanity, and once again, it's the extremists who resort to the ultimate sanction - taking the lives of others. My sympathies go out to the Norwegian people, another country scarred by man's seemingly unquenchable thirst for evil...
Had it not been for Oslo and Utoeya, the top story would probably have been the death, just recently announced, of Amy Winehouse. This was, frankly, not unexpected, but every now and then, you heard rumours that maybe this talented but damaged singer was going to escape the "celebrity death race" with Pete Docherty, only for her to stumble, and hit the headlines with another tale of booze-soaked misery about which the world was caring less and less. This was news that I am not alone in expecting, some day down the line.
Damn it, sometimes you hate being proved right.
