In Today's Episode... "Mane-of-Night: Flight 102 Is Overdue" continues, and things take a nasty turn as Twilight and Nightwind investigate questionable goings-on, with chilling results. And what does all this mean for the survivors of Flight One Zero Two...?Release Notes... Hard to believe that The Secret Adventures of Mane-of-Night will reach their 5th anniversary on the 25th of February.
Development News... Chapter 18 is starting to take meaningful shape, bringing together all the threads that have spun out of the Flight 102 incident. The story has taken some twists and turns throughout its development - a lot has been siphoned into this one story that had originally been intended for an extended story-line, but this is just the way things have worked out. There will still be opportunities to explore the new status quo this story represents. Also, it's a bit unfair to call this a Mane-of-Night story, as she's not in it all that much.
At least I can bring this "episode" to a conclusion soon - probably tonight and/or tomorrow - then the way will be clear for the last stages of "The Road To Reignfall". Could it be that ...Flight 102 Is Overdue has come out the way it has because I've been in a hurry to get to the "main event"? Maybe - but my development process doesn't always involve a complete "rough draft" plot-line, and sometimes, I don't have a finish until I'm halfway through the writing process, or even later. Not quite the best way to proceed, from a writing stand-point, but it's how I work, and sometimes, ideas pop up as a result that prove valuable in the future.
Time for a serious plotting effort. I've sketched out what's to come several times, but I need to be more thorough, to work through all the connections - all the threads - and spot any flaws before they get built into the storyline. Multiple layers of "break-down" may be needed - I know where thing stand now, and I know where they're going. It's the journey that's the challenge. Time to break out a fresh notebook...
