Spent a chunk of today giving Second Life another try, particularly in the field of building. I have a few ideas I'd like to try out, and there do seem to be some good learning resources out there - even "in-game" - but the only hardware I have that's capable of running the damn thing appears to be on the very lowest limit of acceptable performance. If I'm going to move forward with this, and perhaps try out Star Trek Online, a hardware boost will be required - and guess what I happened to have in mind anyway...?
Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down... There's an unqualified THUMBS UP for the J.J. Abrams version of Star Trek, freshly acquired on DVD yesterday, and something of a THUMBS DOWN for the finale of Prison Break - or more correctly the two hours of what I can only describe as "bonus footage" revealing just why Sarah had that scar on her back at the end of Season 4. Guys, it just wasn't necessary.
Now that you've jammed Prison Break down our throats in unwieldy three-episode chunks every Saturday, can Sky 3 continue in similar vein, and provide us with more of what it was supposed to feature, such as all those shows that vanished to satellite over the last half-decade? Y'know, stuff like, I dunno, 24? Lost? Battlestar Galactica? The last few seasons of Stargate SG-1 that Channel 4 just won't put on? Stargate Atlantis...?
Just one episode of one show, and one episode of another on a Saturday night, and that'll do just fine. C'mon, Sky schedulers, you know it makes sense...
