Here we go... Gordon Brown reveals five key general election pledges

These, it transpires are:

"Secure the recovery"
"Raise family living standards"
"Build a high-tech economy"
"Protect frontline services"
"Strengthen fairness in communities"

"Secure the recovery" from the recession YOU dumped us in, and which we were supposed to be "ideally placed to emerge from early". 0.1-0.3% growth isn't "emerging from recession", it's the last desperate flailings of the drowning man.

Hello? Remember "We have broken the cycle of boom and bust"? A hilarious quote that will long outlive this sorry excuse of a Government. This recession wasn't supposed to be able to happen, and you yourself, Gordon, were the one who said it - we will NOT forget.

"Raise family living standards" That shouldn't be too difficult, given the state of things as they are, but New Liebour will still manage to fnaj things up - if they get back in.

Of course, living standards will be "raised" to a point where you'll be taxed even more, but you'll never see any of the supposed benefits from the tax-grab. The roads will still have pot-holes, but not one suspected terrorist will ever go without a roof over his head, food in his belly, and every state benefit his case worker can apply for on his behalf...?

The only people who've seen their living standards rise are the bankers, dishing out bonuses that'd make your eyes bleed from the taxpayers' money New Liebour have been gleefully handing out to prop the banks up.

"Build a high-tech economy" - and the plan is to do this by taxing every landline phone customer in the country. It still won't be enough, and by the time we get this so-called "super-fast" broadband, it'll be out of date, and everyone else will be on 200mb fibre-optic. And, of course, Gordon's high-tech economy will be like my old Windows 95 PC a.k.a. "Work you BASTARD", with its inability to properly recognise the size of its own hard disk, and its buggered-up fonts directory that has EVERY menu and dialogue box in really small, serif text...

"Protect frontline services" Now, what services would these be? The NHS that effectively killed my great-aunt, and had a go at me? The "FUCKING System", with its utterly useless "New Deal", which is really just there to get the chavs off the streets for half the day? Or might that be the case-workers for the terrorists I mentioned earlier, and their friends the Political Correctness Nazis?

"Strengthen fairness in communities" ...and let's NOT start with gay weddings and the minimum wage. The latter is probably the ONLY good thing this New Liebour Government has done - but remember the fox-hunting ban? The only other manifesto pledge they've actually made good on, and that was NOTHING to do with animal welfare, and EVERYTHING to do with slapping down the "typical Tory voter" - just like Inheritance Tax, and I've made my feelings about that quite clear...

Or have I? I mean, check out this little gem:-
...from BBC News: Gordon Brown warns Tory cuts will hit middle classes

"Mr Brown said that, under the Tories, two thirds of families would loose their child trust fund, while planned inheritance tax cuts would benefit only the 300 wealthiest people."

WRONG.
...from direct.gov.uk

"Not everyone pays Inheritance Tax. It is only due if your estate - including any assets held in trust and gifts made within seven years of death - is valued over the current Inheritance Tax threshold (£325,000 in 2009-10). The tax is payable at 40 per cent on the amount over this threshold."

A modest rise in the lower ceiling for this "death duty" (that's what it used to be called) - and I don't mean the £1 million proposed by the Conservatives - would benefit my family, and we are NOT, by any definition, "rich" or "wealthy". I'm sick and tired of apologising for seeming to be a "materialistic weasel" - that money Darling Alistair is laying claim to could help change the lives of a bunch of people I love, including one who has busted her ass for everyone but herself, all her life. Give her a fucking break, willya...?

Here endeth the rant.
