Work Slot 1: Day 4
14 Jan 2009 23:38Just a quick one tonight - I want to type up as much story-work as I can before bed, hopefully all of it...
There it is... the first irreplaceable death of the year: Patrick McGoohan. His Number Six was truly The Part No-one Else Could Ever Play - but apparently ITV think they've found someone who can. Why is there this stupid movement to update everything for the "current generation"? Will any of the prospective viewers appreciate what's been done? So far, only Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica have been a genuine success, and I'm rather pessimistic about all those trying to jump on the bandwagon. DON'T just take the old show, and recast it with pretty young things - do something different with it!
Hmmm - got a bit side-tracked, but the remakes are a genuine concern. How many new ideas will be stifled, strangled at birth even, to make way for reheated leftovers? And please, do we really need another Buffy? By that, I mean ITV's Demons, which has utterly failed to grab my attention...
Here's a laugh... A protest group fighting the building of a third runway at Heathrow airport is buying up the land it is due to be built on. Question: how many of these "environmental warriors" fly to foreign destinations on holiday? Legitmate question, people - and I wonder what would be the truthful answer...?
Okay, better get to work - "quick" didn't exactly work out, did it...?
