My grandmother would have been 100 years old today (Monday), had I not lost such a priceless friend back in 1995.
I still miss you.
Now, where was I...? Oh yes...
...now this is going beyond a FUCKING joke.
Children's charity Barnardo's has produced a video based on "people's actual opinions on children, calling them animals and vermin", which ends with a bunch of "misinformed adults" going out and shooting "children" - all as part of a campaign to dismiss "wrong-thinking" (my words) about children, which we have apparently had instilled in us by The Evil Media.
Oh, so I'm imagining the hordes of VERMIN smoking dope, boozing up and disrepecting the rest of scoiety, am I?
People are not over-reacting because of media stereotypes, they are, unlike these "campaigners", actually experiencing this anarchy in their own communities, and all because of the "Thou Shalt Not" brigade, who were so convinced that "smacking children makes them violent" - answer me this, Mister Campaigner: if that was the case, how come "children" are far, far more disrespectful and VIOLENT (almost one fatal knifing in London a week this year), now that you've all but made even the verbal chastisement of children illegal?
These AREN'T "children" - they're teenagers, almost adults. Yes, it may only be a few, not the majority - but if the majority are so upset about the stereotyping, then why don't they do something about it, instead of waiting for some nannying campaign group to video you for the TV, looking all "disenfranchised"?
Of course, the campaigners never see any of this for themselves, because all the "children" in their privileged communities get sent off to private schools, and don't get out to raise hell where they live...
We're supposed to "respect" these vermin (yes, d'you hear that - vermin? Let's see them actually show that they understand the concept first - and I don't mean the kind of "respec'" earned by showing how much you can drink in a night, or by flashing a knife around...
Here endeth the rant.
And the rest... The Redskins lost - that's 0-3 in live games this year. I all but finished Chapter 3 of MoN-109 "Mane-of-Night and The Darkening Storm", and the rest of the story is starting to fall properly into place...
And finally... Oh, and will Hollywood please stop with all these utterly pointless remakes, and come up with something new? "No-one today remembers the original", says one director - the director of the remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still".
