In Today's Episode... Can Mane-of-Night make a deal that will give her the inside track into the heart of The Darkening? "A Darkening Tide" continues as our heroine ventures deeper into the mystery of her most despisde enemies...Release Notes... On schedule, with plenty still to go. Coming up - the real meat in the story!
Development News... The final chapter of TDD-509 is coming together, quite literally piece by piece, and I may just be able to finish it with a late session tonight, or early work tomorrow... whenever I wake up. By the end of this employment session, the story should be done - and, as I stated before, maybe the prologue for MoN-108 too.
At The Movies... Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. Been on mornings-only for the rest of my work stint, I took myself to the movies this afternoon. Okay, Indy, time to impress me...
I came expecting mild disappointment - I've said before that this movie wasn't flying into my radar range all that much, but it actually wasn't at all bad. It probably wasn't a match for the earlier films in the series, but if you want a "popcorn movie", you certainly came to the right place. Indy as the senior figure comes across okay, LaBeouf's character wasn't annoying at all, Cate Blanchett sank her teeth into the part of Spalko - the story was a little anaemic, sure, and it perhaps needed more than a few nods to the earlier films to fill it out, but things worked out fine in the end. Some of the model shots were... well, a bit too obviously model shots (the graveyard, the A-bomb test), the quicksand scene kinda felt as though it'd been tacked on at the last minute (fun escape, though) - hey, enough bitching. It was still better than Spidey 3.
Oh, and yes, he does rescue his hat.
The Verdict: Exactly what it "says on the tin". Maybe could have been a bit "more" given the time it's taken this movie to get made, but still... 7.5/10
Coming next... Incredible Hulk, Prince Caspian, Hellboy II...
But first... I may just sleep 'til the start of the Monaco GP.
