A Glimmer Of Hope...?

In Today's Episode... The story of "The Secret Adventures Of Brighthawk: Volume 1" countinues from Charybdis's viewpoint as our heroines get within reach of their goal - and stir up more trouble than even they bargained for...Release notes... We haven't seen anything from Charybdis's point of view before, and so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to rectify that imbalance. Hopefully, we'll be seeing a bit more of her in the not too distant future, after this story reaches its climax.
Development news... I've managed to pull together a good chunk of relevant material from "The Dawn Of Dominion" (coming soon), and establish a foundation for where the next chapter(s) of TDD-509 will be going.
Meanwhile, in the news... For most of today, however, I have been looking into the whole business of the "Jane Longhurst Law"; I was actually hoping to be able to see some of today's Third Reading debates in the House Of Lords, concerning the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill - the last step before the Bill becomes law. From the official Parliamentary transcripts (Hansard, 30 April 2008; around 4.45pm onwards), it becomes pretty clear that there is a lot of doubt about just how workable this law will be, and there is widespread amazement that this law will criminalise the possession of "extreme" images, whilst the activities depicted are not illegal, nor is their actual production.
This law is, and the Lords said it themselves, "gesture politics" - the worst basis for any kind of law - and that people who are so rabid in their support for this legislation really don't have the first idea of the difference between what they think is out there (a plethora of snuff movies), and what is really out there (the snuff movie is still one of the biggest urban myths there is).
In the end, what should really be concerning us all is this: yes, sex crime is abhorrent, but shouldn't we be addressing the sex crimes we already have before we start inventing new ones...?
