Mission 101 Score!
28 - Watch one "classic" film a month
Success! I managed to catch On The Waterfront (1954) at lunchtime - a very welcome respite from the "blog wars". Iconic films don't get more iconic than this, with a cast of true greats - Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Rod Stieger, Lee J. Cobb, Eva Marie Saint - and a no-frills story of working men exploited by their own, and forced to make difficult, if not downright dangerous decisions. Brando is really impressive, more than "out-Rocky-ing" Stallone... one of five Oscar-nominated performances for this movie, and one of the two winners - Eva Marie Saint getting Best Supporting Actress, and Malden, Cobb and Stieger ALL in the running for Supporting Actor award.

Awards really aren't what this movie is about, however - it's a story needing to be told; dark, certainly, but a BIG lesson to present-day film-makers on how "less" is "more" - a LOT more.

Update on "Blog Wars"... This is the problem with Frustration Rabies: it so quickly blinds you to the simplest of solutions...

The problem I'd been having all weekend with the blog software set-up, images failing to update or even appear, appears to have been because of the "hotlink blocker" I'd put into action years ago, and completely forgotten about. In protecting my images from bandwidth theft, I unwittingly set a trap for myself when setting up the tobecontinued sub-domain - which was not initially on the "green list". Egg, meet face...

I'm going to give the contentious software another try, in a "testing" sub-domain, then if it works okay, tobecontinued.dominicore.com will, at last, and after much gnashing of teeth, take wing as planned. Hopefully...

Development News... More progress with Chapter 3 of "Comes... THE CHALLENGER!", typed over lunch. I very much hope to have what will be an "origin story" ready to post as soon as there's somewhere to post it!

And finally... Ah, CRAP. They were working on the power this morning, and a whole bunch of equipment will need its settings restored - and my Freeview box will need another "hard" reset. Just the kind of hassle I'd prefer to do without...

Oooh, and Flash Forward in a double dose tonight. Yay!

Update... Okay, things certainly seem to be working a hell of a lot better this time around. Some more tinkering and testing will be required, then we can get serious.
