The Day After, or What Ifs And Buts...

Meanwhile... Interesting topic on the Comic Book Resources boards: What if your OCs possesses the Infinity Gems?

I would've posted my views on the matter had it been in anyway clear what the rules for this section of the message boards were, so I'll do it here instead...

"As a comic book fan, Mane-of-Night immediately recognises The Infinity Gems (Mind, Power, Space, Time, Reality, Soul) for what they are, and considers retaining the Mind Gem for herself, whilst recognising the danger inherent in the Soul Gem, and does her best to ensure it did not fall into anyone's hands, although something in her would perhaps lead her to try and return it to its former owner, Adam Warlock. Sense would quickly prevail, and she would take on the task of preventing the Gems from becoming a source of harm for Dominion and the Confederacy Universe.

(It would be highly inadvisable to allow Darkhawk to possess any of the Gems, as such an amalgamation of power would possibly be viewed as a universal threat by Infinity, and a possible contravention of the pact she entered into to secure the power necessary to create Dominion.)

Given the current situation in Confederacy space, were the existence of the Infinity Gems to become known, they would obviously become the target of The Pandemonicum, and the Overlords. This conflict would be a significant danger to reality, and Mane-of-Night would most likely assemble her own version of the Infinity Gauntlet to combat, and perhaps neutralise the threat of The Pandemonicum before dispersing the Gems across a wide area of the Multiverse, ideally into the possession of the most deserving and trustworthy beings she can find..."

I had been thinking of a "Mane-of-Night vs Civil War" thing, with our heroine trying to survive against the pro-registration forces in last year's big Marvel event, but I'm trying to avoid any more cross-fic. I can imagine Mane-of-Night riding The Midnight Spectre through New York's streets with Iron Man and Ms Marvel in hot pursuit, assembling her own custom-crafted team of Resistants, or even landing a stars-and-stripes decorated Red Ronin on the flight deck of the SHIELD Helicarrier after the death of Captain America...

*ahem* Excuse me, I have writing to get back to, AND The Golden Compass to watch on DVD... Damn I'm good at getting side-tracked.
