No comic reviews right away, but here's the weekend's key television highlights...
Friday: Torchwood - 213 "Exit Wounds"
This is a more "down-to-Earth" season finale than Season One, probably due to budget cuts, but this episode, in general, works better. Bet no-one expected the choice of master villain, and oh what a nasty piece of revenge - BUT... *** SPOILER *** ...they killed Toshiko. And that sucked. *** END SPOILER ***
A series much improved throughout this run, and facing quite a challenge next time around. I will certainly be watching out for it. Recommended.
...and tonight...
Doctor Who - 401 "Partners In Crime"
Yep, it's a funny one, but the comedy is well-placed, and doesn't detract from the story at all, and the story's conclusion isn't as predictable as some have been. Catherine Tate doesn't annoy, which bodes well for the future. A quite enjoyable little romp, then HOLY S417... *** SPOILER *** ...uh, hey, that's ROSE. That's Rose looking sombre towards camera, Rose walking away - Rose fading away... Uh oh. *** END SPOILER ***
A pretty decent season opening, promoted to "very good" by "The Surprise" (see SPOILER above). Recommended.
Tomorrow: Bahrain Grand Prix. "Expect the unexpected" may be the order of the day...
