Sanity Prevails...
15 Feb 2006 16:26In Today's Episode: It's the moment of truth - the launch of Skylance-X - in the latest chapter of The Darkhawk Diaries!
In Our Headline Story... What a surprise - smokers throughout the UK are up in arms about how their "human rights" are being "infringed" by the upcoming ban on smoking in enclosed public places. The whole of the UK is now going to be subject to this change in the law, sooner or later.
What about my right to breathe clean air, and not have cancer inflicted on me? Okay, I don't go into pubs, as I don't drink alcohol (and don't waste time calling me a puritan...), but what really put me off pubs was the stinky smoky atmosphere.
And where is this "right to smoke" written down in law, then? You have the freedom to smoke, but with that freedom come responsibilities, and the duty to show respect for others. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that when it comes to their disgusting habit, smokers only respect their own pleasure, and to hell with everyone else and what they want...
I try to show respect to anyone and everyone, wherever possible, but I cannot bring myself to tolerate people who, if they were factories, would be closed down just like that.
The ban takes effect in Scotland this March. Long overdue...
Journal Recovery News: Diary-X is expected to return, it seems, depending on the result of the attempt to restore a failed hard drive.

Good.
