28 Apr 2007 23:25Ghost Rider: A good enough interpretation of the character let down by some cookie-cutter Gothy demonic villains. The "riding up skyscrapers" scene was cool, and so was the "Ghost Riders In The Sky" scene - what a cracking version of the song! Verdict: 7 / 10 - an above average comic adaptation, and not over-long.
Doctor Who: Good stuff in general in the concluding part of the latest Dalek two-parter - but I spy inconsistency, as in just why would The Doctor be so willing to help his greatest enemies? Also, why just (***spoiler***)let the last Dalek in existence just vanish into the past or future and walk away when you could end their threat forever by hunting down Dalek Caan(***spoiler ends***)? A bit of a let-down, in those respects, but the show is still doing fine.
Underworld Evolution (DVD): Nice creature design on Markus the uber-vampire... but that was pretty much it. The first movie was bogged down by the same old "Matrix-horror" stereotypes - grubby werewolves and miserable Gothy-looking vampires - which thankfully this sequel didn't have. I still think Kate Beckensale was better as Anna Valerius in Van Helsing - and Hellboy was still a better movie than both of them, and this movie.
I so want to make a movie like this with vampires and werewolves - getting both their asses handed to them by a bunch of kick-ass dragons. Circle Of Legends, anyone...?
