Freedom RIP
26 Jan 2009 00:51It's Chinese New Year - the Year Of The (*looks it up*) Ox, to be exact - but it should be The Year Of The Bull(shit), as The Jane Longhurst Law creeps out from under its rock, and finds a new hiding place in the statute books of British law, where it has no right to be.
This law is WRONG. It will save no-one, whilst condemning thousands on the basis of someone else's misinformed prejudices. Lives will be ruined because an old woman isn't satisfied with getting her daughter's killer locked up, and her MP is so desperate to make a name for himself. This law will fail. No government with any common sense will waste public money on enforcing this...
...ah, crap. Some hope of that before the next election.
There appears to be no coverage whatsoever of Sunday's protests in London. The BBC, impartial? Like balls they are. This is typical of the whole sorry story of this legislation - sneak it out when no-one's looking, and probably spring it on a Conservative MP when the economic figures get even worse.
Stay tuned for more developments as they happen.
