The Weight Of The World
31 Aug 2009 23:16The Disney Buys Marvel story is a whole lot more momentous than a lot of people imagine - most likely the people stupid enough to talk about "Batman and Superman vs Mickey and Donald" (wrong company, dickwads) - but my primary concern is a lot closer to home. Or rather, that's where we'd prefer she was.
My great aunt is still in hospital, and not getting any better, courtesy of a National Health service that couldn't organise its way out of a room with its door removed. Yes I'm aware that local health provision is a bit complicated right now, with the new hospital in town still not open yet, but my great aunt has been wasting away for no good reason for nearly THREE MONTHS now, and we have only a vague idea of the damage that has done - and I don't mean the broken hip sustained IN HOSPITAL the day before she was due to come home, after a relatively minor complaint.
This whole sorry business is taking a lot out of us all, particularly my mother, and the excuses are beyond pathetic. Not long ago, I would gladly have spoken up in defence of British health-care, but now, all I could possibly say is fight your own damn battles, just like we're having to do with ours.
There is, therefore, the increased possibility of "creative outages" for the foreseeable future as I "step up to the plate" to offer what assistance and support I can. I've been able to avoid that so far, so I'll do what I can with the inspiration that comes my way, and post what I can in as organised a fashion as circumstances allow.
There, that's how it is. Sucks...
