A Swift One On Saturday
22 Aug 2009 21:01Busy typing up and adding to recent material for MoN-203 "Mane-of-Night And The Wayward Child", after an extended afternoon of garden-work - and that's about it.
Oh, and it seems that the Director of the FBI has it in for Scotland, too. I'm not about to debate the rights and wrongs of the compassionate release of the "Lockerbie Bomber", but I will call Mister FBI Director, Robert Mueller, and all other American Scotland-haters hypocrites of the most heinous sort - you're all so outraged by terrorism, yet for about thirty years, you people were financing the IRA through your oh-so-benevolent "NORAID" scheme...
...and some of YOUR money surely paid for the bombing at Harrods in London. A bombing I missed by maybe less than an hour, and a few hundred yards. I WAS THERE that day. I could have been a victim. I'll never forget the moment I heard about it, in the taxi back to my hotel that evening.
To the families of the American Lockerbie victims, I offer my sympathies - I can see how this situation must be hard to handle, but does hurling scorn at Scotland really make any of you feel better? We're just as disgusted by Libya's "hero's welcome", and the stories of shady Government business deals make us feel dirty too. WE ALL want the truth, and the truth is never helped by people baying for each other's blood, whilst the perpetrators of terror laugh at us all from the shadows...
...but if America is really that upset about this, why don't you do what you've done before, and chuck a few Cruise missiles at Tripoli? Or are you afraid of blowing any big oil deals of your own...?
Makes ya think.
