20 Mar 2009 00:26Mmmmm, now let's see...
- The day started with the news that Josef "The Austrian Child-Raping Monster" Fritzl was found guilty on all charges, and sentenced to life in a mental institution - and maybe his lawyer should join him for coming out with the most ludicrous statement of the year so far: "no human can ever be a monster". Hello? Humanity pretty much wrote the book on monstrous behaviour - the concept didn't exist until we came along - and I'm sure everyone on Earth can name at least one true monster, alive or dead. Kim Jong Il? Robert Mugabe? Hitler?
Ooops - I don't think we're allowed to mention any of that, in case someone gets offended. The Austrians certainly seem to be very defensive...
- It seems that The Post Office can't be bothered to have their parcels office open for more than a couple of hours in the morning. Wonder why the postal service is struggling these days... *sighs*
- Oh great - Twitter is acting up, and it looked an awful lot like censorship of the Fritzl thing. Except it wasn't.
- I am getting really sick of the way a certain terminally-ill "reality TV star" is being almost deified in her final weeks. One of the magazines that helped to turn this crude, shallow non-entity into a "celebrity" now has a "commemorative" issue on sale - and she's not even dead yet! The family may think it a "kind gesture", but I think it's just simply SICK. The only good thing likely to come out of this is that more women will be screened for cervical cancer as a result, which may seem to some to be a fair trade-off... but that doesn't stop the whole business being stomach-churning. Any chance of a "miraculous cure"...?
- Crap - log-in troubles for Ultima Online. A sideways approach got me in-game in a relatively stable condition - but then my dragon decided to eat me. Twice. And then ignore my chosen target... dammit, Thundra!
- Forgot ER was on. Crap!
- Agh! Still got a comic order to send off - and it's tomorrow already!
*sighs again* Definitely going to need a change of scenery.
