Oh, and TalkTalk Broadband got me killed in Ultima Online last night, too. That'll be, oh, say twenty thousand gold pieces for my insurance costs and pet retraining expenses, please...

This should be the last day of the current broadband contract, and tomorrow should be the first day of the return to PROPER phone service - and, for a short time, "good" old dial-up (or so I'm hoping). I'll be glad to see the back of this whole mess, but damn, I will miss broadband, even if it's only for a few days.

In The News... Finally, someone is going to see some damn sense, and do something about the boozing culture in Scotland. In this country, alcohol is seen as a right, not a privilege, and the very suggestion that booze will get more expensive has a whole bunch of people wailing and gnashing their teeth about the proposed ban on cheap booze deals, and a system of minimum prices per unit - listen up, people: you are not going to die because your poison of choice as a "responsible drinker" goes up a few pennies.

Drunks cost the Scottish health service £400 million a year (and that used to be A Lot Of Money) - and let's not forget the verbal, emotional and sometimes physical distress inflicted on health service staff, or the cost to the taxpayer of having the police come out and arrest the culprits. Those bastards who abuse those who're trying to help them should have to pay for their treatment, rather than expect the taxpayer to stump up for it...

Yes, I don't drink. No, I don't think I'm better than anyone who does. I do, however, know the kind of damage this booze culture can do, and something has to be done about it. Nobody can say otherwise.

From The "Oh Please, Not Again" Files... The BBC is so scared of being even suggested of wrong-doing these days that they've jumped, and declared the result of this year's University Challenge final null and void, because one of the winning team, at the time of the final, was no longer a student. Oh. The. Horror.

Oh yeah, and there's some Development News... Last night, and today, progress was made on MoN-202 "Mane-of-Night And The Watcher From Beyond"! That logjam has been cleared, and further advancement is sure to follow. Count on it.
