"Virgin Killer", released in 1976, is one of the best albums the Scorpions have ever produced. It is, however, notorious in rock circles for its original cover, featuring what could be assumed to be an offensive image of a child - an image that now has the "Internet Watch Foundation" so incensed that they've called for Wikipedia to be censored by ISPs...

Oh, come on - a 32-year old album, with a cover that's become a rarity, even on import is sufficient to allow this "organisation" to cripple a major internet resource? Does the fact this album was released in 1976 somehow make it an "easy target"? Think again, my friends - there are fans and anti-censorship groups coming together on this matter, and the overwhelming feeling is "keep your hands off the 'net!"

Let's see what great songs are on this album... "Pictured Life" - one of the best Scorps songs ever... "Catch Your Train"... "Hellcat" - featuring one of the first recorded raps, maybe? "Backstage Queen"... "Polar Nights" - a sadly forgotten absolute CLASSIC! Add to those two ballads - "In Your Park", and the incredible "Yellow Raven" - and you have perhaps the pinnacle of the band's early phase.

Is the contraversial version of the cover in good taste? Not really, to be honest - but I don't think it created a swarm of child-abusers when it came out, or since. It really is so easy to camouflage out-and-out CENSORSHIP as "righteous indignation", isn't it...?
