David Davies...
12 Jun 2008 22:30...the only politician in the UK with any real integrity. A man prepared to put his career on the line to provoke debate about the increasing erosion of personal rights and freedoms in this country. Mister Davies, I've previously stated that I wouldn't vote for your Conservative Party again - but I would vote for you.
Interesting to hear how New Labour State Television - ooops, the BBC - haven't delayed in branding him "mad", and guilty of "wasting public money" and "splitting the Tory party". Sounds a bit like Robert Mugabe talking about the Movement for Democratic Change in Zimbabwe.
New Labour are terrified about this. If they don't field a candidate in the forthcoming by-election - the Liberal Democrats had the decency not to contest it, as a matter of conscience - they're cowards. It's that simple. If they ignore the contest, Brown's minions will be failing to defend the 42-day detention policy they fought so hard, and bribed so many, to get voted into law.
Good luck, David...
...and don't forget that the "Jane Longhurst Law" is typical of the very legislation you're standing against.
