The body may be dead, but the mind - and that man that is Captain America - lives!

How is this possible?

Consider this...

"A Captain America" has been gunned down in public before, namely the late 90s "Captain Replacement America", John Walker, whose death was faked. Precident, but too obvious - this can't be the truth behind the assassination. However...

- Captain America has been subjected to a "mind swap" before, when his mind and that of arch-enemy The Red Skull were switched when the villain used the seemingly all-powerful Cosmic Cube...

- ...and the dying Red Skull's mind was later transferred into a clone of the good Captain by master geneticist and fellow Cap foe Arnim Zola - this time without resorting to the Cosmic Cube.

- The Red Skull, most recently, was assassinated in an attempt to acquire the reconstituted Cube, only for the villain's consciousness to find its way into the head of the thief, Alexander Lukin, where it is to the present day, sharing the Russian industrialist's body...

- ...and the Skull has now assembled a group, including former thralls Zola and villainous psychiatrist Dr Faustus, with the expressed intention of destroying Captain America. Faustus could have somehow undermined Cap's confidence, leading to the infamous Civil War surrender, and the Skull would never have allowed someone else to kill his nemesis. Red Skull agent Crossbones probably fired the shot, Zola captured Cap's mental essence... and the hero lives on to be tortured at his arch-enemies' pleasure.

Let us see just how close I am to the truth as the months unfold...

...but I'm sure that CAPTAIN AMERICA LIVES.
