*** WARNING - CIVIL WAR #7 SPOILERS FOLLOW THIS NOTICE! ***

What a difference a day makes - yesterday, a heroine wins a war; today, a hero loses a war...

Marvel's Civil War, I mean. I've spent the last couple of weeks trying and generally succeeding in avoiding spoilers for one of the most important comics of the last few years, and today Civil War #7 arrived at my door.

A major "hero vs hero" scrap takes place, with two real "Yay!" moments - Namor taking sides at last, and somebody at last does something about the "Clorborg", in rather decisive fashion (albeit almost identically to a conclusive scene in a recent issue of Annihilation - but then...

...something of an anti-climax. Seven issues, and all the build-up, hype and tie-in issues... and Captain America surrenders. Even so, it does ring true with the character to some extent as he realises that the battle he's initiated is causing just the sort of damage that started the whole hero registration business. But there is something of a "did they actually have a proper ending for this?" about it all... but then again, just how is something like this supposed to end? If everything just went back to the way it was, the outrage would have been colossal.

For now, I'll content myself in waiting for the Hulk to return to Earth this summer, and cause the latest big storyline "World War Hulk". Lou Ferrigno, this ain't.
