Oh fabulous; H5N1 bird flu just hit the UK, and in a far more emphatic way than the dead swan washed up just down the coast from me about a year ago.
If you believe the scare-mongers, we'll all be burned to a crisp by global warming before bird flu takes hold...
Meanwhile... A comic delivery sneaked under my radar (again), with the way of following highlights: Civil War #6 suggests there's a "brawl to end it all" in the offing, as does Eternals #6, and Silent War has the potential to get very messy. Last but my no means least, a Marvel Universe handbook Update featuring a favourite character of mine, Blaxploitation-style super-villainess Nightshade.
Lowlights... I also received the final issue of a Lady Death mini-series that should've finished six months ago, and that's about when I stopped caring. Supergirl and The Legion of Super Heroes has nice art, but just how many times can the Earth face total annihilation in the "ultimate" war? Getting a bit predictable, I'm afraid - oh, and the cover is a teensy bit nothing like the story inside; never a good sign. There's a much better story featuring the alien Dominators in Green Lantern Corps, actually.
Tomorrow... Superbowl XLI! A good game looks likely, and either team would be a worthy winner. My head says Colts, my heart says Bears...
And Finally... 28 October - Giants-Dolphins at Wembley! No Redskins, but who's to say what we'll get if we make that game a success.
