Take cover - here it comes...

In The News... The Muslim "teacher" in trouble for wearing the veil is apparently proud to be British, but she's also a Muslim - I imagine she was a Muslim when she was interviewed for the job, and wasn't wearing her precious veil then, from what I've heard. Not so proud of her beliefs then, was she? I smell the musty scent of hypocrisy...

If "culture" is so important, let's consider, for just a moment, one small thing in Anglo-European culture: a long-standing, and possibly irrational fear of people hiding their faces, going back way, way before 9/11. Sorry, no "law" is going to change something that deeply ingrained in the national psyche, let alone the all-mighty "Political Correctness".

- A little girl who faced having her treatment terminated because of severe damage to her brain, lungs and other organs is now going to end up in care, as her "valiant" parents have split up, and apparently don't seem to give a damn any more. So much for the "caring Christians" - smell that? More hypocrisy. Three years old, and on the scrapheap. That's just sick.

- More on the Madonna adoption thing: It's interesting how people are so concerned about the child being separated from his "culture". Are these the same people who are so desperate to "preserve indigenous cultures" that they're prepared to keep people in the pre-industrial era, just so the tourists can get a look at the locals "in their natural environment, untouched by the modern world". Since when was it right to put human beings in the equivalent of a zoo, and deny them progress?

Sometimes, we just need to be protected from those who would "protect" us.

- Yes, British hospital food IS awful. You have to be a) desperate and/or b) ravenous to even consider eating it.
