In the recent knife amnesty in Scotland 12,500 or so weapons were handed in to the police. 7,500 of those were domestic knives, the kind of thing that can be bought in a pack of five for £0.99 from just about every supermarket in the country. 474 of the weapons surrendered were "samurai swords" or the like.

Isn't it interesting how the panic is always stirred up about samurai swords, "ninja death-stars" (you mean "throwing stars" - a ninja can hardly be stealthy carrying a battle-station the size of a moon around with him) and "Rambo knives". You can kill for pennies, so why waste a small fortune?

People will just keep on dying, and being mutilated. More laws just won't change that.

Also... Anyone else getting concerned about North Korea? If not, you should be.

People shouldn't fool themselves that this is becoming a serious issue just because the latest Korean missiles could just reach the US. It's been serious for years. Look - there are the WMDs, and Kim Jong Il won't hesitate to use them... against his real target: Japan. Maybe North Korea can see that it's Japan that'll be the next superpower - the Japanese are, after all, spending many billions more on nanotechnology than any other country. It's early days yet, but nanotech is the future - and the future will carry the Rising Sun label.

Project News... There is no project news. Today got screwed up by elderly relatives. I will be up late writing. Guaranteed.

And Finally... Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the London bomb attacks. There will be commemorative events, and you can be certain that someone will declare them "inflammatory and offensive" to certain minority groups...

Ah, the joys of Political Correctness. Not.
