patentdragonIn the space of less than twenty-four hours (for me, at least), things can get royally fucked up.
The Chris Benoit case (shame on me, I mentioned That Name) is now generating a whole heap of hasty retractions from all over the place, as people who were genuinely upset at the death of the wrestler now seem to feel guilty about even mentioning his name, because of the crimes that he is still only rumoured to have committed - namely the murder of his wife and daughter. Several items about the subject on the net now have postscripts attached, apparently to emphasise how they are now quite, quite disgusted by the whole thing - as though praising Benoit's past achievements somehow makes it sound as though they condoned his actions, whether they were due to steriod abuse or not.
I'm disgusted too, and maybe this posting could be viewed as serving a similar purpose to those very "in hindsight" statements, but turning on a dead man changes nothing, except perhaps, and maybe intentionally, to make others feel guilty as well. What, did ***CENSORED*** just become one of the Cthulhu Mythos? Do we risk summoning "The Devil" by mentioning him?
