I've done my regular monthly report, but now I have to address something of a landmark - the halfway point in Year 1! So, let's look at

Task 3 - 100 Hours of Outdoor Walks A Year
I just calculated my total walking hours up to this point, and I came up with the stunning figure of 81. Walking to work since the start of March - an automatic 30 minutes a day - has made a BIG impression on this task. I may not be able to count on that in future, but we'll see how things go. Overall, I'm pleased.

Task 9 - Cook Dinner Once A Month
I'm ahead of the curve with this. If I can step it up to twice a month, and sustain that, I'll be particularly satisfied. In any case, I'm more comfortable handling raw ingredients that I was.

Family Tasks - 13 to 17
Given the current situation, these are in general still to be touched upon, about which I'm not proud. If a move is on the cards, probably in the New Year now, then things will change, like it or not.

Travel Tasks - 18 to 26
Now's the season to make these happen, and a few of them will see progress soon, such as Task 19 - Visit five cities not on my regular "list" when I'm in Perth to see Seasick Steve as part of Task 90, and Task 23 - Camp outside at least once, in association with Task 79. Should be researching renewing my passport soon.

Culture Tasks - 27 to 44
I'm keeping up with Task 29 - Buy a book a month from an actual bookshop, and Task 42 - Get comic orders in more promptly, whilst I'm almost doing the same with Task 28 - Watch one "classic" film a month. There are a lot more tasks in this section still to address, especially the language-based tasks

My Stuff - Arts And Crafts Tasks - 45 to 56
If there's a task I'm sure to complete, it's 45 - Make regular progress on current and forthcoming "projects", and so far, that's going pretty well. I'd like to do more work at home, rather than just relying on the progress I make at lunch-breaks.

I am definitely making progress on my photographic challenges, in particular Task 55 - Take more photographs, although I don't have an album yet - I'll probably be making that myself (courtesy of Tasks 84 and 85 - Learn to make my own paper ...and make my own books!). Before I make a start on new craft projects, I better finish some of my existing ones (Task 52), and yes, I am achieving that!

The other My Stuff categories - Technology and Personal And Financial are showing some strong progress as well. The new personal website, thepatentdragon.com - Task 57 - is operational, but still needing its ongoing content, and there are other tasks that will cover that. The "Personals" show the best "hit rate", with my new personal tradition in effect (Task 67), and charity shops both forgiven (Task 68) and receiving regular visits (Task 69)...

And The Rest... My first completion was Task 78 - Build a kick-ass snowman, and whilst my "snow-snake" wasn't entirely "kick-ass", the effort was enough to merit crossing this one off the list. The protests against the CLAN Gathering on my back door-step (Task 79) will commence at the end of this month, but the election in May didn't yield an opportunity to pursue Task 80 - Publicly "confront" a major politician who deserves it!. May did, however, see my first of five planned concerts in the 1001 days (Task 90; Kiss in Glasgow), and I'll be keeping on track with that at the start of August, as mentioned earlier!

Add to that my latest addition to the list - Task 95 - Go on a early morning/dawn photography expedition, and come back with good pics - which I managed to polish off in the same month as I gave it the go-ahead, and things are looking good. A decent amount done, plenty in progress, and heaps to look forward to!

Just over two years to go, and it looks like it's going to be a busy time!

So, what's the damage? Based on current progress, I should have completed 36 Tasks by the end of the 1001 days, leaving 65 uncompleted, at a cost - in accordance with Task 82 - Give £1 to charity for every task not completed, and an additional £10 for every 10 not completed! - of £125 in charity donations. There is, however, still plenty of time to get that figure down...
